An Incident Aboard Delta Air Lines Jet
A man aboard a Delta Air Lines flight that had just landed in New Orleans caused a disturbance by inflicting harm upon himself and attacking a flight attendant. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon after Delta Flight 2432 from Atlanta had touched down at Louis Armstrong International Airport.
Subduing the Aggressor
Passengers quickly came to the aid of the flight attendant and successfully subdued the 39-year-old aggressor until law enforcement officers could board the plane and apprehend him. Jefferson Parish sheriff’s spokesman, Capt. Jason Rivarde, confirmed these details. The motive behind the violent outburst remains unclear.
Motive Unspecified
Rivarde stated that the man used an unspecified sharp object to cut himself in the neck. He also threatened the flight attendant, managing to inflict a superficial cut on her. As a result, the passenger is now facing charges of aggravated battery, simple battery, and disturbing the peace.
A Calm Response
Passenger Raquel Davis, who was on board the Airbus A321 jet, did not witness the incident but overheard flight attendants requesting medical professionals over the intercom. Davis commended the crew’s ability to keep the rest of the passengers calm during this ordeal.
“It’s surprising that nobody was raising a ruckus,” Davis said. “It was weird in a good way.”
Delta’s Commitment to Safety
Delta, an Atlanta-based airline, emphasized its dedication to maintaining safety and security both onboard their aircraft and within their airports. In a statement, they stated that they have “zero tolerance for unruly behavior” and affirmed that “nothing is more important than the safety and security of our people and our customers.”
