Two white men, Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam, went on trial for Till’s murder about a month after the incident. However, despite overwhelming evidence against them, an all-white jury acquitted them. It wasn’t until months later, in a paid interview with Look magazine, that Bryant and Milam confessed to killing Till.
